For destination weddings in Italy and France, this evolution is particularly exciting. Colour can be used not simply to decorate a venue, but to create a dialogue with its architecture, landscape, light and history.

Blue is becoming particularly interesting for luxury weddings in 2027.
Soft hydrangea blue, delphinium, lavender, lilac and periwinkle create an elegant alternative to predictable pink-and-white floral schemes. This palette can be magnificent for a Lake Como wedding, where the blues naturally echo the water, or for an elegant celebration on the French Riviera.

For 2027, I particularly love apricot, faded coral, soft terracotta and delicate orange, especially when mixed with blush, cream or pale blue.
These colours work beautifully beneath the warmer Mediterranean light and can be exceptional for destination weddings in Tuscany, Sicily, Puglia, Provence and the South of France.
They also photograph wonderfully during golden hour and by candlelight, becoming warmer and deeper as daylight disappears.
Butter Yellow and Cream: Quiet Mediterranean Luxury
Another beautiful direction is the combination of butter yellow, vanilla, cream and fresh green.
It feels luminous rather than colourful in the traditional sense.
Imagine a long dinner table beneath Tuscan trees, delicate yellow flowers, ivory linens, hand-painted Italian ceramics and hundreds of candles. Or a summer wedding in Provence where pale yellow flowers subtly reference the surrounding landscape.
This is colour used with restraint—and that restraint can feel exceptionally luxurious.
Pink Is Changing
Pink has certainly not disappeared from weddings. But the way we use it is changing.
Rather than one uniform blush tone, 2027 floral compositions combine antique rose, nude pink, dusty pink, mauve, raspberry and occasionally deeper burgundy accents.
This creates dimension.
For an ornate château or historic Italian villa, these slightly aged, painterly colours can also complement frescoes, tapestries, stone and gilded interiors far more successfully than brilliant white flowers.
Richer Colours for Evening Weddings
Luxury does not always have to mean pale.
For evening celebrations, we are also seeing a return to plum, burgundy, wine, aubergine and deep red, softened by lighter flowers and abundant candlelight.
Used correctly, darker flowers can create extraordinary drama in historic interiors. They are particularly beautiful for autumn weddings, formal black-tie celebrations and candlelit dinners.
The important point is balance. Deep colours need air, texture and light around them. Otherwise, an arrangement can quickly become visually heavy.
Colour Should Belong to the Venue
For me, this remains one of the most important principles of wedding design.
A floral palette should never be selected independently from the venue.
A Renaissance villa in Tuscany, a palazzo in Rome, a château in Provence, a contemporary hotel in Monaco and a waterfront villa on Lake Como require completely different interpretations.
The stone, walls, flooring, gardens, existing furniture and even the quality of natural light influence my choice of colour.
This is particularly important in a luxury destination wedding, where the destination itself should remain visible within the design.
We are not decorating an empty room. We are creating something specifically for that place.
Flowers, Linens and Tableware Become One Composition
Another important development for 2027 is that floral colour no longer stops at the centrepiece.
The most sophisticated tablescapes repeat or subtly contrast those tones through tablecloths, embroidered linens, menus, charger plates, glassware, candles and bespoke stationery.
A lavender flower might be echoed in a hand-painted menu. Peach roses might contrast with powder-blue linen. Burgundy flowers can become spectacular against ivory porcelain and candlelight.
This approach makes the table feel designed rather than simply decorated.
Monochromatic Does Not Mean Monotonous
For couples who prefer a quieter aesthetic, monochromatic floral design remains extremely elegant—but even here, 2027 is about nuance.
An all-white wedding, for example, becomes much more interesting when we mix pure white, ivory, cream and touches of fresh green, while playing with flower shapes, heights and textures.

Ultimately, I don’t believe that a luxury wedding should simply reproduce the “colour of the year.”
